Rockets Capture First Mac Title!

In their final regular season game of this abridged 2020 season, the Streetsboro Rockets traveled to play the Norton Panthers. A Mason Dundon forced fumble allowed the Rockets to take control of the ball. The Rockets would go the rest of the way, capped off by a Donovan Washington-Perdue touchdown from the one-yard line.
The next kickoff, the Rockets went with an onside kick they were able to recover. Three plays later, Washington scored from 9 yards out for his second touchdown.
The Panthers tried to respond with a drive of their own, but were stalled by the red zone. Norton attempted a field goal, but were wide right. Taking over at their own 20, Another six snaps capped off with Washington’s third touchdown.
After the defense forced a three and out, Norton sent a deep punt over Carter Giacomo’s head forcing him to field it the Streetsboro 11-yard line, but he outkicked his coverage. After initially going left, Giacomo found a lane down the right sideline and with a block from Mike Hall, he was able to return it all the way for a touchdown, giving him his first punt return touchdown of the season to go with his kick return touchdown against Ravenna the previous week.
That proved to be the final score of the first half. In the second half, the Rockets received the ball and picked up where they left off. With heavy contribution from Richtell McCallister, the Rockets went down the field, getting three carries and a reception, he was able to run it in from 20 yards, getting his first touchdown of the game.
The Rockets final scoring drive of the game was for 95 yards, bookended by a 45 yard run from McCallister to start the drive and a 3-yard run to finish it, giving the Rockets a 42-0 lead.
The Rockets posted their second shutout of the season and their defense only yielded one offensive touchdown in the first half in the regular season. The win also secures an undefeated regular season and the outright Metro Athletic Conference Title, their second conference title in a row to go with the Portage Trail Conference Title they won last year. The Rockets have not lost a regular season game in the past two years, winning 16 in a row.
They now have a bye week before they host a playoff game that will be against the winner of the game between Niles McKinley and Ravenna.
